A Doggone Experience

A friend of a friend of a friend of mine (her name is Giselle only for the sake of this story, and the fact that I don't have a clue what her name is or who she is) once flew from Utah to California to dog-sit their family friend's dog. This dog was a huge old Saint Bernard. So essentially, a really big dog.

The first day she's there the dog dies. Just dies. I can only assume that it was just from old age. Giselle is there in California by herself and doesn't know anyone. She calls the family and they get her in touch with the vet who tells her to bring the dog in and he'll take care of it.

One problem with this scenario is that Giselle doesn't have a car and instead of calling the vet and telling him she has no way of getting the dog there, she figures out something different. She empties her luggage and stuffs the dead dog in. Just sticks him in there.

Now comes the actual transportation. Taxi? Perhaps? But maybe hauling the dog to the bus station would be easier. So that's what she does.

Giselle was struggling with the dead weight inside the luggage. It was no easy task. As she worked her way to the bus station a man saw that she was having a hard time. So he asked if he could help and she gladly accepted. They walked along while working in a little small talk. When the man asks after a few moments of silence, "What do you have in here? This is really heavy."

Giselle panicked slightly. She couldn't answer that she was carrying a dead dog with her. It would sound like a crazy person. "Just computer parts," she said nonchalantly. It was the only thing she could think of that could be heavy enough and normal enough for a person to carry around.

The two enjoyed a little bit more talking when suddenly the man bursts into a sprint and takes off with the heavy luggage. He's stealing her luggage! In his mind, it was "just computer parts."

Imagine his thief of a face when he opens up that luggage in hopes of scoring such a deal, only to find that he had stolen a dead St Bernard.
